I am 51 and have had m.e for over a decade, I have never had family although I do have an adult daughter, it is a complicated relationship. I live in Devon and am alone all the week, that includes talking to anyone or seeing anyone except for a cpl of hours if I can make it to my daughters. I do have a sweet dog who deserves more walks than I can give. I have no friends left. My confidence, weight, and trust are shot to pieces. Along with m.e the effects and situations include great grief, anxiety and depression mostly exacerbated by my long term illness and isolation. I still have humorous moments, tho am struggling a lot again lately to find joy, not helped by being perimenopausal. Would love to have you say hi. K x

Hi @anabella - I'm pleased to be the first to welcome you into this very supportive community. Thank you for joining us all & also sharing a little about yourself. I'm sorry to read you have M.E., & feel isolated, which cant be easy.

Just chatting to others here can often help; we all have different disorders (or have an affected relative) so do have some understanding of each others difficulties, & sometimes it's easier to say how we feel here, rather than to a family member.

Please use this forum whenever you want, & also say if you need any support, help or advice.

Thank you so much for your welcome. Is there an app that directs me straight away please? I hope I didn’t ramble too much in introduction, would so very much like to be able to chat to people in a similar position so lots of info. X

Hi @anabella and welcome to the community. Thank you for your post and for sharing your experiences. 

Isolation is very difficult and I hope that this forum will enable you to connect to others in similar positions.

Hi again @anabella - I have just sent some links to another member who feels isolated, & thought of you. The following may be useful if you're not housebound, or your daughter may be able to help you socialise a little. So here they are, just in case. It's probably worthwhile to talk to your GP anyway, as you've said you're suffering with great grief, anxiety & depression. I do hope your GP may help.

Hi @anabella and welcome to the Community.  It is nice to meet you and thank you for sharing with us.  I'm really sorry to hear about your M.E. and the fact you feel so isolated.  This must be extremely difficult for you.  You are amongst friends on the forum and we are all here to support you as we are a friendly bunch of people who look out for and help each other.  So please feel free to chat to us anytime as there will always be someone on here to listen.  You will make lots of new friends on here I am sure.  I have been a member of this fab Community for over a year and have met many wonderful people here and it has helped me so much and I am sure it will do the same to you too.  That is lovely you have a wee dog.  What kind of dog is it?  Lots of us on here have pets and we talk a lot about them and share photos of them.  I have a cat and love her to bits!  Pets are very therapeutic aren't they?  I look forward to seeing you on here and I hope you enjoy your time with us.  If we can be of any help or support at all then please just ask.  All the best.
