I am wondering if there are any benefits that I could claim

I work as a nurse (22 hours per week) and I am struggling with arthritis in both knees. I have reduced my hours to help with my knees but this has not helped much at all. I do not drive so usually get the bus but I struggle getting on and off the bus so usually have to get a taxi. I am wondering if there are any benefits that I could claim some sort of disability benefit. Any information would be great, thank you.

Hi Sinead, I think I would push for PIP, get all medical evidence, should be be hard for you and fill in the PIP form and push all evidence in, nothing ventured nothing gained

I'm one of the community champions here on scope and i'm here to help and advise others.

PIP isn't awarded based on a diagnosis, it's how those conditions affect your ability to carry out daily activity based on the PIP descriptors. Evidence will be needed to support your claim and this should be relevant to how your conditions affect you against the PIP descriptors.

A face to face assessment is most likely because most people have them. A claim could take several months, sometimes longer.
