PIP appreciation post F2F

Hi guy's

So I had my PIP F2F last week and requested a copy of the assessors report the next day- which arrived super swiftly! To my total surprise the assessor has actually recommended 15 points for DL and 12 for Mobility with no review necessary as it's a progressive condition! Now while I agree with the decision- minus a couple of points that she gave me 0 points for, I'm really skeptical about wether the DM will agree and award me as such. This isn't my first PIP rodeo and my last assessor basically lied as much as she could and I ended up at triubnal. I wised up and requested a recorded interview this time which may have helped!

So anyway now I'm doing the dreaded, anxiety inducing wait for the decision letter and I can't shake the feeling that the DM will dismiss the assessors reccomendations and score me lower! Even though I sent quite a heap of corroborating specialist letters and photographic evidence.

I guess I'm just putting feelers out to see if this could be likely, or if I should relax a little and have faith in the assessors review.

Opinions welcome x

    HI,

It's very rare for them to go against the report so please do try to relax. It's a very good thing that the HCP you had this time was truthful, which proves that the good ones are out there.

I totally understand the stress it causes having to wait for the decision but hopefully it won't be too much longer, although there's no timescales.

I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

    Thanks Poppy

It's the pessimist in me I'm sure!
I'll keep the thread updated when I get my results.

So I've stupidly managed to post this 4 times haha newbie error! I'll figure it out and go on a deleting spree. In the mean time thanks for re-directing x

Hi @ Furby - Thank you for updating us all, with what seems a great assessment report. I'm sure half of you might relax, whilst the other half is waiting for a decision letter still! Be an optimist; it all sounds good. The DWP Decision Makers haven't seen you, & are not medically qualified, which is why they usually go with the assessment report. I also hope you get your decision letter soon. In the meanwhile, do say if we can offer support in any way at all.

Hi Furby, I am so pleased to hear it went well with your assessor's report.
I had my assessment on Monday and feel more anxious than ever. I was given an unrequested home visit but know I won't get mobility despite having spastic paraplegia, as she told me she did not want to see me walk after I told her I could walk as far as the bus stop. I was so nervous and did not manage to explain just how difficult it is and the after effects. She seemed very caring and as a consequence I fell into the trap of not explaining adequately the other aspects of just how difficult my life can be. I am unsure whether to request the report as if I would have to wait 6 weeks or more to take it any further if it did not go in my favour.

    HI and welcome,

When you filled out the form that was your chance to give as much information as possible about how your conditions affect you. The face to face assessment is not meant for a claimant to be able to answer the questions with as much detail as possible because there's never enough of time to explain everything.

Just because you can walk to your bus stop it doesn't mean you'll be refused the mobility part. What matters is whether you could walk that distance regularly and reliably. If you walked that distance in the morning, would you be able to walk that same distance later than day?

You can of course request the report and you'll have some idea what the decision is likely to be because they mostly go with it. It's rare they go against it.

There's no timescales for decisions, if they told you a timescale then it's just a guide. Backlogs are part of the reason a decision can be delayed but it can be anything from 2-8 weeks, sometimes longer.

Once the decision's been made, if you're not happy you'll have 1 month from the date to request the MR. Good luck.

Thank you Poppy123456, that is reassuring as I filled the forms in great depth. I think as the assessment is conversation based it can become disjointed. During my assessment the information was audio recorded which made it difficult for me to add anything whilst she was talking into the microphone and afterwards when she swiftly moved on to the next questions.

Hi @Jane007 - Welcome to the community & thank you for joining. I hope you've been reassured by Poppy, &, as you say, you filled your initial forms in going into detail, which is great.
If you decided to ask the DWP for a copy of your assessment report, either you might be allowed to relax, or, if it's not as you hoped, it would give you longer to prepare if you decided to go for an MR. So, it might be worth considering asking for a copy. Just a thought.
In the meanwhile, please use the forum to have a look around, & for any support you feel you need. Good luck. :)

Thank you for your welcome Chiarieds and Poppy. I think I will request the report. I just wish I had found you all earlier as there is a wealth of support and information here. I have had a difficult few years which have included workplace discrimination and increasingly poor health but I do my best to stay positive.
