Hi all,

Due to varying conditions, I'm sure quite a few of us on here are already self-isolating. How are you getting on?

I thought it'd be nice to start a thread where we can share what we're all doing to keep self-isolation positive and as stress-free as possible.

Share your self-isolation tips in the comments! :)

    @JenCo I am self isolating but still working from home. So it's the worse of both worlds! At home there are a million things that need doing but I'm still trying to actually do some work. I have read that during working hours we should spend 10 minutes in every hour doing something we enjoy so I'm spending mine of the forum :smile: I did a bit of baking yesterday so will probably do some more and then put on weight. After that I will read a few diet books!

    Oh this is briliant, I hadn't even thought of the junk drawers yet! I'm so doing this in a few days :)

    I'm lucky enough to be able to work from home so am hiding in here until it looks safe - haha!

    I've been on Skillshare learning some new stuff. There are LOADS of video classes and you can have a month's free trial so it should keep me busy for a little while. Would definitely recommend having a look!

    Oh, and I'm not proud, but Minecraft too. :p

    Ooooh! @laura222
    Skillshare is a great idea. I haven't played Minecraft but I'm glad it's entertaining you :lol:

    We have done a shop online with Iceland the last 3 weekends no problems the first two this last one was only 50% complete, apparently some of the big 4 supermarkets have a lead time of a week for delivery slots, and I'm sure I read today that Ocado aren't taking on any new customers, they really need to get organised IMHO

    Lots of larger stores in the Republic of Ireland are implementing Elders Only hours first thing in the morning. Only elderly or vulnerable individuals are allowed in to shop before other people rush in and panic buy. It's a lovely idea but I'm sorry it's come to this.

    I’m desperate. How do you amuse small kids? I need suggestions on activities. What apps are best for learning?

    My sister is home alone with 2 boys (ages 5 and 9) and she's.... holding up really well so far!
    All this while she works from home.

    Hope these help!
    Good luck

    I had a few minutes of cabin fever
    Solved it by just driving to a place with a good view  with a flask & a sandwich
    Refreshed and back home to finish some chores......
    🤭 maybe I should have stayed out a bit longer LOL 😂

    I did venture out today..just locally and managed to get a few things.
    I felt kind of scared....not going out again.

    Got lots of crafting things to do.

    I think we're in it for the long haul. I'm still self isolating. I found myself waiting for an answer from Alexa today. I am going to ask her to remind me to wash my hands every 3 hours as I'm so paranoid. You don't realise how much you need a routine until it's gone.

    At least I have my hubby, doggy and carers are still getting in ok.
    Love to all xx

    @Cressida
    the reminders aren't a bad idea to be fair. Can you imagine how much better things would be if everyone did this?

    @pollyanna1052
    What crafts are you doing? I might see if I can learn to crochet and make myself a hat that fits over my BAHA. No idea how difficult crotchet is though...

    @laura222
    How are remote activities with the nephew going? Or have you had a chance to try these yet?

    Thank you everyone for the comments.
    It's lovely hearing from you all.

    Stay safe and well my friends :)

    Oh! One new thing I tried today - a long walk at lunchtime.
    I'm still working from home but my manager is encouraging us to get out of the house now and then if we can do so safely.

    Lucky I work with a good team

    It’s by no means clear cut (thank you government) but self-isolating is 14 days isolation when you or one of your relatives have the symptoms of Covid-19. Social distancing is the 12 weeks isolation because you or someone you live with are vulnerable.

    Hopefully, most if not all of you describing your self-isolation are actually doing social distancing and have no symptoms at all.

    I’m doing the latter and will be working from home for the duration.

    I'm describing my situation as self-isolating because my fiancee and I aren't practising social distancing from one another. We're avoiding everyone else but acting as usual while at home (save for the fact we don't leave the house and are washing our hands, ourselves and everything we own a lot more...)

    Ooooh! @pollyanna1052 hope the cushion making is going well. Wish I had sewing skills :)
  • mikehughescqmikehughescq Member - under moderation Posts: 4,891 Disability Gamechanger
    I think that adds a layer of complexity that simply doesn’t need to be there. You’re social distancing and not any kind of exception.

    supplies of cushions are now down very low...just nicked one off the sofa, cut it in half and have made a lovely cover for it....keeping the other half for tomorrow!
