Single parent - how do I shop for my disabled son?

I’m abit concerned as a carer for my son who’s in isolation and has heart defect, learning difficulties and hearing loss? I’m also a single parent and I can’t go out and que up for hours whilst his at home to try and get shopping for us to then be disappointed that there’s nothing on shelves to get... is there anything in place for us and are we included in the same rules in place for elderly?

    Hi @tammy81, if you're unable to get a delivery slot for online shopping, it might be worth taking a look at Covid-19 Mutual Aid UK. They have a list of local groups across the nation who are mobilising to support the most vulnerable.

    They can useually reserve things for you.

    Also you are able to get with food bills with healthy start

    If he receives free school means he's entitled to meals or vouchers from his school. 
    Most online shopping has a long wait for deliverys. 
    We are also self isolating as I have heart and lung problems and 3 young adults with autism and other complex needs. So I know how difficult it can be.

    I know the problems with food and the supermarkets is not easy access at the moment.

    I do have the following can help you if click on and sign up as many as you can in your area.

    Who do on line shopping plus one more might not think they offer groceries, but do.

    Also have a lot of deals on meat, goods and food items plus household.

    Depending what exactly you need.

    Or if you wish to ask me what specifically you like to eat and try to offer a menu costing little.

    I do this every day as not only had to adjust personal circumstances.

    Living in poverty a difficult time so used to making meals with less is more.

    Give my time to the community being supportive, offering short cuts tips tricks and making use of nothing into meals.

    If you can't find a mutual aid group on facebook, ACORN might be able to help you out depending on where you live. https://acorntheunion.org.uk/corona/
    They're in Brighton, Bristol, Nottingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds, Lancaster, Liverpool and Newcastle and can probably find someone who is on the edges of those places if needed.

    Morrisons have started weekly food box everyday items if you can manage to book. 
    Good luck to you all with your shopping.
