Carers allowance deductions discrepancy

Hi all, I receive £67.25 per week CA, for my first UC payment since becoming eligible I expected them to remove £1 for £1 totalling £67.25 per week, however they have removed £291 for the period 7th May - 6th June during which I received 4 payments totalling £269.
Can anyone clarify why they have deducted £291 under carers allowance? I do receive the carers element but nowhere does it state I will lose anymore than £1 for £1. It's precisely a 30 day period and even taking it per day at a rate of £9.60 it comes to £289 approx.
Any insight would be appreciated.

Hello @Ntsh22 and welcome to the community.

Because not all months are the same length, they deduct overlapping benefits based on the monthly average (67.25x52 and then divided by 12).

If they didn’t do it this way, some months you’d receive 5 lots of CA and end up with £336.25 deducted and others £269 deducted.

Have you checked you’re receiving the carer element of UC too?
