Accessing medical records

geek84geek84 Member Posts: 64 Courageous
Good Morning Folks

I am a male in my 50s and have had health issues from birth.  A few years ago, I managed to get a record of my medical history from my doctor.  However, there are lots of medical terms and hand written notes that I cannot understand or don't know what they mean.
I contacted the doctor last year (before the virus outbreak) who said he hasn't got time to sit down and go through my medical records with me,  and now of course he is busy because of Covid19 etc.

Please advise where else I could ask for help to understand my medical records .

Thank You

    Good morning steve51
Many thanks for your speedy reply.
I haven't attended hospital for anything except during birth. I'm mostly interested in the medical records held by my GP. I persume my GP would also have details of any operations during birth?
    Thanks

    Hi @geek84

Yes all off your history should have followed you as you have changed your gp.

Your info should be on the system as when I worked in med recs I always had to do this  regularly.

Hello, trying to understand medical terminology can be a problem we the consultant sends you information about your diagnosis and uses medical information, terminology. I have resulted to looking on line for the terminology used for a clearer understanding of my condition and concerns also when being prescribed a new medication. This has given me an insight into my possible prognosis and a better understanding of my conditions.  I don’t dwell on it the possible downsides of my findings but try to remain focused on the positive elements and be grateful that I could be a lot worst.
