Hi, my name is belneedsadvise! HELP with disability at work

My son has worked for the same company for coming ip 4 years he has asd adhd (on medication ) and dyslexia he moved branches in January a new manager came in and he is now being  sat down every 2 week's about his time keeping and work rate. He has been late 3 times never been of sick and has always had trouble concentrating  hence the medication. He has come home tonight and has been told he is now on a pip review and is allowed 3 on them before they take disaplianary action he is very anxious and they won't talk to me as it a closed door in their eyes . Can someone please give me some advise Tia.

Hi @belneedsadvise Welcome to the community I an sorry to hear about your son

Did he have any work related adjustments n place with his previous manager and are they in writing anywhere or was anything put in place when he started his job

If he is being late then this can be a valid reason for pip is there any reason why he is being late. As for work rate I would expect that a reasonable adjustment should be be considered under the Equality Act

I would write a formal letter to his Manager or HR department asking them to look at reasonable adjustments and also maybe referrasl to occupastional health who will assess him and make recommendations about adjustments to suit him and the company.

A reduced workload would be considered as reasonable as long as he can perform at a set work rate agreed by both parties. I would also put in the letter the concerns about the pip meetings and that he feels his disability isnt being taken into account in his expected targets

I would write the letter as it is coming from him

• Access to Work grant scheme
• Flexible working
• Asking for adjustments
• If your employer rejects adjustments

Also. it might be worth getting in touch with ACAS who can offer employment advice.

Hi and welcome Im bit confused do you mean your sons going to get a disciplinary from pip or his work ? Im sorry your son is feeling anxious . They have to make reasonable adjustments for him so tell him not to worry so much I know its hard I have horrendous anxiety ,
