Carer’s Allowance and pension

A family member receives Carer’s Allowance for caring for me. They have a small NHS pension from when they worked as a nurse for a few years. It matures in 3 years, when they are 60, but they have the option of taking it early. If they cashed it in now it would be worth approximately £250 a month.

Would receiving this pension affect their carer’s allowance?

They have no other income.

Thanks

    Hi,

It's not classed as income for their carers allowance but the pension could affect any other benefits they maybe claiming.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
