High school review!

Hi,
I’m just after some advice really, background story - my son from nursery in primary school was made to feel different because they couldn’t meet his needs, for 1 year I had to pick him up every dinner time, he then went to an assessment centre for 1 year and at the review they wanted to put him back in mainstream I expressed that I didn’t think this was the right choice as he wouldn’t cope, nobody listened, within a month I was back in the office and he was put down to 1 hour a day until he finally received is ehcp and went to a little unit within an mainstream. It’s now time for a review for high school and they want him to go to a mainstream and I want him to go to a private independent school in our county which caters for asd and adhd. I don’t want my son to be pushed into mainstream when I know he won’t cope, he’s educationally very behind he lacks social skills bless him and finds it so hard to make friends but he has loved his little bubble and come on so much, I just feel like they want me to feed him to the lions he would be eaten alive in a mainstream, I’m going to fight this I just feel so deflated after fighting years I now have to start again, also I must add his teachers believe that my son won’t cope either in mainstream and have said they will fight tooth and nail with me which is a relieve, I just know this all boils down to money which is disgusting they would rather save money and make a child suffer.
I was just wondering has anyone else been through this sort of thing before and had a positive outcome?
my son has ADHD and ASD.

Thank you

Hi @cheshire91 and welcome to our online community.

I feel your frustration and completely understand.  I am sorry it's being made so difficult for your son to access the right education for his needs  :(

I'd recommend giving IPSEA's advice line a call if you haven't already as they are trained in giving specialist educational advice.  They also have lots of resources on their website around EHCP's and template letters to use if you need to complain.

Wishing you all the best with the outcome - good luck.
