Hi @hayley0285
Apols for the delay in response!
Not sure whether it's a typo, but you say that the assessor will recommend that you come off the high rate? But you also state you are in assessment phase?
In answer to your question though, yes, generally the DWP do go with what the HCP recommends, as this tends to be the primary evidence they have available to them.
As regards the length of time from the the assessment to the decision, it's not normally very long, around 2-3 weeks, maybe up to around 4 weeks.
Hope this helps - and hope they get the award right for you!
Kind regards
Mary

Hello hayley0285 - I'm glad your ESA has been sorted out so promptly, and that you will be put into the Support Group. Just to be clear about the rates - there are two versions of ESA; contribution-based ESA, and income-related ESA. If you are in the Support Group, the maximum contribution based ESA you can get is £109.65. If you are eligible for income-related ESA as a single person, then you would get £109.65, plus an extra premium called the enhanced disability premium, which is another £15.90, making a total of £125.55 a week. Some people get contribution-based ESA, with an income-related top up. You should check on the benefits calculator part of this Scope website to make sure that all your other benefits are in order too, and don't forget to consider making a claim for PIP!
Hope this helps!
