Feelings

Hi to all, I have never joined in any discussions before about how I feel about condition.. not sure how or where to start really.
I suppose I feel confused I have a lot going on at the moment.  I suffer with a Chronic Back condition and have done for 30+ years.

It hospitalised me for the first time in August this year, I had to learn to walk again. I am now walking but have days where I could cry with the discomfort, it can strike again at any time and gives me plenty of warnings.

My only meds are Co Codamol as I seem to react with rashes if I take certain meds. My drs aren't much help, I am under the pain clinic at hospital, but no specialists as such as my MRI doesn't show a reason for my pain.  I requested a PIP pack, but feel guilty completeing it as I feel there are people more deserving of it

I do have trouble sleeping as the pain wakes me up as it seems to effect my hips and legs..

Just like to get some feedback really

    Hi Steve51

Thank You, my condition started in 2002, so lots of years of varying discomfort.

People don't really understand do they, not as sympathetic as seeing a missing limb.

I really am finding it difficult to even start to complete the PIP information. Not sure I am worthy of it and what the process would require.

    Hi @Sennie57

Many thanks yes “hidden disabilities” are very very hard to prove.

This can lead to great problems for us to be accepted.

Yes I had a very strange experience a few years ago now.

I used to take both of my kids to a school just around the corner from our house.

As my health started to deteriorate I started to use a walking stick.

Instantly I was being asked “how I was”

Yes please do apply for “PIP”

Don’t worry about anyone else we all have different levels of disability.

You need to be very careful filling in the forms as it’s very very different to the other benefits available !!!!!

Please please let me know if I can help you with the forms ???

    Many thanks.

Hi @Sennie57 welcome to the community.

Are you getting any support from the specialist pain teams at hospitals? It mght be worth seeing them?

And please don't feel guilty for applying for PIP. PIP is about how your impairment affects you in day to day life, it is not so much about the impairment itself.  We have lots of information about PIP so take a look and let us know if we can help at all.

There is a PIP self test you can do online to see what you could possibly score here.
