HeyHey! To all......
I had my 1st Tribunal in 2013, i waZ awarded DVLA for the higher rate mobility and lower rate care componant for a ‘indefinite period’.....
my 2nd Tribunal in 2017 for PIP i waZ awarded high rate care component and lower rate mobility (with no speculated period of time stated)
My disability has deteriorated rapidly over the past 7 months, which has had a big impact on my ability to get around.
I have all medical evidence and MIR scans.
My question to you Please!
can i approach PIP? Mobility?
I’m not sure who, and ask if my mobility componant could  be re-considered for the higher rate........
i have no idea but can only ask Thank~You!
your answers will be appreciated
kind Regards Treyc

    hi treyc

you can put in for a change of cirumstanceif you have a new or worstened condition. however the Dwp  will require a new assessment of your entire award

As your condition has got worst yo will need to inform DWP of your changes and they will most likely send you a new claim pack plus you will again go for a face to face acessment to determine your changes. May I sujest if you are no longer able to stand or walk far you get approval for a taxi to and from the acessment centre if you have to attend.

Hi @treyc, in your case it might be worth contacting Citizens Advice and arranging an appointment with one of their advisors about your situation? You can find your local branch by using the search on their website.

You can also find more information about reporting a change in circumstances on this page.

    Hi @treyc

I'd agree with PippaScope, CockneyRebel and wilko that it might be best to discuss this with a specialist adviser first - as everyone has already said, the DWP are likely to re-look at the whole award before awarding the enhanced rate of the mobility component.

If you have premiums because you are entitled to PIP - for example, a severe disability premium which is £62.45 per week, it is sometimes not a good idea to risk those premiums just to get an increased mobility component.

The amount of PIP for daily living is £55.65 or £83.20 per week, and the severe disability premium is £62.55, so the whole amount is at least  £118.07 per week. The extra amount that you'd get if you qualify for the enhanced mobility component is £36 per week.

However, if your PIP daily living award is quite secure (always at least a little hard to gauge), then you may still want to go ahead.

This really has to be your decision - so take advice first and weigh it all up before you go ahead.

    Good luck with this.

    Best wishes
