Hi, my father is suffering from hearing loss. He is 65 years now. He is not having any problem with the hearing until this time. He can't accept this situation. This condition is making him more stressed. He is an active person and doesn't like to spend his time by simply sitting in the home. He likes to get involved in other activities. But nowadays, he seems to be frustrated and depressed due to this. If this situation continues, this will badly affect his mental health too. So we are planning to get an appointment with an audiology specialist in London. Before that, I would like to know the treatments. I think this hearing loss is age-related. I am not sure about this, only an assumption. If so, then will it possible to try hearing aids for this? Which one is the best hearing aid available? What is its cost? If anybody knows about this, please help me with your replies.

Hi @elizza, thanks for sharing this with us. It must be really difficult on you both.
I wonder if @geoffbosworth195661, @Henry, @Meleen or @icihearyou can offer any advice here? -
Hi @elizza Firstly tell your father stop worrying over a simple hearing test. hundreds of children adults are in and out daily throughout the country. He will have a a small hand box with a button. Your father while sitting on a comfort chair he will have headphones put on. The audiology will explain that sound will start in the ear/ears when he can hear he just presses the button. This will continue with different sounding and your father just presses a button when he can hear. This gives a guide on how much hearing your father has. If he his slightly deaf they have hearing aids available most are free. he will either be treated then or a further appointment depending from pace to place. Your father will have a ear mould by doing this a soft warm compound is inserted into the ear and hardens quick this does not hurt I assure you. It is similar to dipping head in swimming pool. The moulds will be sent of and will be made to your fathers ear/s size. When they have been made your father just have them fitted and he will find the difference. Please note two types one around ear or one that is snuggled inside ear without showing on the outside. Your will have to pay if you want certain types. They are cheaper than private and you will find they are just as good. I'm sure after it as being done you will wonder what was all the fuss about.
