Has anybody ever has anybody ever felt like they are going down a dead-end road? My grandson who I have raised since 8 months old was diagnosed with high functioning autism and ADHD. Since 3 years old has been kicked out of all the local Nursery schools and summer camps he has also been in every sport imaginable which didn't last long because of his aggressiveness and explosive meltdowns. I started off with the natural approach from the natural food store and took him off  any foods that contain dyes and natural medicines for adhd/Autism. So my last resort was to Medicate. It is very frustrating because none of the medicines and he's tried them all has helped him. We have no problem with him at home it is only in school. He gets very aggressive and impulsive I have the principal calling me every single day. I moved him out of a gen ed class to a smaller one with an IEP. He is still doing the same behaviors. He has seen so many counselors ,coaches ,therapy sessions and no positive results. Miami if you are still on this thread how are things going now for your son? I also forgot to mention he's very defiant and hates to lose and if he loses it is the end of the world everything is competition!! Has anybody had any similar situations like me?

    Hi @DoreenB
Have you considered specialist school for him? Does he have an EHCP? When you apply for one of those they local authorities comes into school and have a look at what School can do to manage his behaviour. Also how is his learning? Is it belong impacted by his behaviour?

I am I am writing from the states when I joined I didn't know this group was located was located in the UK LOL but it's okay any feedback or help would help but we do not have EHCP over here. Yes his behavior is hurting his learning because he is sent out of the classroom a lot. Right now I am working with Easter Seals don't know if you know what that is I just filled out all the paperwork and will submit it tomorrow. I have checked out autism schools by me and there nothing to be desired basically run down. You see he was diagnosed by a psychiatrist a very big chain where I live this is what he has and here is the meds. Oh okay that one doesn't work we will try him on this and like I said nothing has worked. So now I will Work with this agency and get all the testing I need to get done which will be out of pocket but I need a new set of eyes. Thank you so much for answering Me :-)

Are there any local charities you could get help with? We live near North East Autism Society and they offer support in various ways.

Sounds like some respite would help as it must be exhausting.

Sorry  I'm absolutely no real help at all but wish you well a sit sounds like he's a very lucky young man to have you in his corner.

    Are school supportive.?
