PIP reduced, should we reapply?

hi ive just joined and was wondering if anyone knows if we can reapply for pip my husband was knocked down to half the rate 2 years ago since then his condition has got worse he has practically no mobility now and so many health issues including a cancerous tumour removal has anyone any info thankyou

    How long is your Husbands current award ?

    You can put in for a change of circumstance which will mean a new assessment.

    Have a look at the B&W self test first to see how he might score

    Please remember, PIP is about functionality or lack of and not so much about condition

    Hello Pat

    You can request a supersession (change of circumstances) for a current PIP claim. You can make this request over the phone, and PIP should then send a PIP form for your husband to complete. It is very likely that he will then be asked to attend a medical assessment. From this a decision will be made as to the new PIP award. Please note that PIP can take away, reduce or increase the award. 

    If you do not get the award you expect you can challenge this decision.  You have 1 month from the date of the decision to lodge a Mandatory Reconsideration.  Hopefully you want need to but please post again if you do need help with challenging a PIP decision. 

    AS CR posted it is worth completing the test before requesting the supersession to check that your husband feels that he has enough points for an increase in PIP. 

    It is about whether you can reasonably and reliably complete a task for the majority of the time rather than condition/diagnosis. The other thing to bear in mind is the importance of aids e.g. if your husband has a dossett box, grab rails. When looking at the PIP descriptors if it can be shown that a person reasonably needs an aid then there is  a strong case for points to be awarded.
