I used to get my Blue Badge renewed at my local library but now on renewal now on renewal I have been told one can only apply on computer. What about if one don’t have a computer or does not know how to use the computer especially if you are elderly.

Hello @Sidd2174   Pleased to meet you welcome.

Understand the issues with Blue Badges.

One of two options was to go to the Post Office apply by mail and send all evidence in fill in a form. Returned back and wait and hope for if you qualify.

In answer to your question about computers. Please can I advise the on line information is easy to follow. Just a lot of ticking boxes and have the information to hand. I know I am not good with computers . So it is not that difficult I do understand.

Only other options are to say to Blue Badge Providers for other advice. Might have to send you a form.

I tell you why it is all computised because unknown to me.  Form filling and costs are time wasted.  Costs them money. Waited months last time. Filled it in renewal around end of August or start of September. Renewal date is around October.

Got it and paid for it to Post Office in ten days before end date it came.

Having renewed it several times. Wish I had done this on line. My second issues are need a photo so once done . They need a photo either use your passport photo.

Unfortunately I had no passport so a form was the only option. I am afraid.

Lots on the forum on blue badges. Sorry to tell you that because I did a piece on costs and the amount to pay.  Plus restrictions.  Just because your are disabled does not mean you will get one.

Form is about ten pages long and much more scrutiny.

Sorry to be bearer of bad news. As a new member. Hope we can be supportive and as a community advise and help.

    Please take care

    Hi @Sidd2174,

Welcome to Scope's online community! It's great to have you here. :)

I'm sorry to hear about the issues you've been having with renewing your Blue Badge. Do you know of someone who may be able to help you renew online? Your local Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) may be able to support you too.

My local council give the option of ringing them and they'll send you the form in the post but i know all councils are different. Do try ringing your local council to ask if they can send the form to you. I have to admit though, it's much easier online.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

@thespiceman.Many thanks appreciated, sorry about the delay I have been not so good lately. I did apply on line, thanks for the advice, it was easy but it was refused  on the ground I think on walking steps question I could not working out.

You have to record the actual distance that you can walk without having to stop due to severe discomfort.

You may only be able to walk 20 yards. On the other hand you may be able to walk 88 yards.

Once the distance and time has been confirmed you will have to describe 'how' you walk and why.

Then you will have to show why you feel severe discomfort after that distance.

There are no 'pass' limits or 'fail' limits for distance or time. Everybody is assessed according to their abilities including the manner of walking.

Finally you will have to give details of your illnesses that are causing this problem.

My GP has written a letter on my behalf and advised me to send a few appointment letters to see various specialists  and hopefully you will get it. I am now collecting all the paper work and will scan the copies (Over 50 of them!!) I had Heart attack x6 Heart by pass surgery in 1997 stent in 2011. Bialat Inguinal Mesh Plug Hernia Operation on 1Sep 14. Prostate cancer in June 17 all clear in Dec 17.(It was the best Christmas present)

I had a fall from the top of a ladder and have been suffering up to now. I am taking Epidural Facet injection every four months , I must say they are helping.

I used to be in RAF fit and healthy but now I am nearly 76 so i put it down to old age. Will keep you inform.

Regards and thanks for the advice.
