Hello,
I have created this topic because I need help with some information.
I'm looking for an electric wheelchair for my father and I was hoping, somebody can help me here.
I found this product https://blumil.com/blumil-city and was wondering if some of you had some experience with it ? I dont really, know how this combination works - seagway + wheelchair and I'm curious about it
Thank you

    Hi @KrisNowel
A very warm welcome to our community. I'm not familiar with the wheelchair that you have shared. There is a similar product that I have watched on Youtube, called the Genny Segway wheelchair.

    Hi @KrisNowel

The sort of self balancing powerchair that you have linked to is very new technology to the wheelchair market.

I recently tried out a similar product at a trade show https://www.nano-mobility.co.uk/ and got the impression that perhaps it required better trunk control and more user skill to use than a traditional powerchair.

The important thing with wheelchairs is matching the correct product to the right person. Here is a link to general advice about choosing powerchairs https://www.dlf.org.uk/factsheets/powered-wheelchairs

Personally I would always advise people to have their mobility needs assessed by a qualified professional, which in the UK normally means their nearest NHS wheelchair clinic.

If your father has reasons why he needs the features offered by a self balancing powerchair and has the functional ability to use one, then you might want to explore things further. However if his needs can be met by a traditional powerchair you may decide that the price tag associated with cutting edge technology isn't a necessary expenditure for him.

If he does decide on a self-balancing powerchair do check out what happens in the event of breakdown, is there the facilities locally to get it quickly repaired?

    Best Wishes

Hi @KrisNovel! My in-law is using Blumil City. He is very satisfied as this wheelchair is very intuitive and easy to ride. It was a revolution for the whole family since he started to ride it. Have a look at the info on riding it https://blumil.com/riding-the-blumil and you will see if it's gonna work for your father.
