Open University

Hey everyone,

I have been thinking about my future and lately I keep hearing about Open University. So I tried looking on their website but unfortunately it won't let me zoom in, I can't read small writing. I was wondering if you could help me out?
- How much does it cost and are there any funding options?
- What courses do they do?
- How does the process work?

Many thanks for any replies! :)

    Hi @Ami2301
What device are you using to view the website?
My wife has just graduated from the OU and was funded for the first 5 years. Until our household income hit a certain threshold.
There are so many courses to choose from, too many to list!
You apply online through their website. A bit like a UCAS application. The OU also take into consideration your lived experiences. Once accepted on to your chosen course, you will be given access to the learning portal. This is where you can communicate with fellow students and your tutors. Unless it now completely digital, you should also receive textbooks and learning materials through the post.
I hope that all makes sense and helps a bit?

    Hi @Ami2301

I would suggest you contact the OU direct and ask to speak to their access team.

I have not studied at the OU, but know many that have, they all thoroughly enjoyed it.

I have done distanced learning at two universities that led to two Masters.

You learn at your own pace and meet lots of good people at summer schools, who have become long term friends.

There are lots of grants you can apply for, so funding is not really an issue.

You can start with a taster course on any given subject, the world is really your oyster for study subjects.

Employers will take into account that you are studying with the OU, this shows determination on your part.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi @Ami2301

You can also request a free call back.

There is an online contact form but you may not be able to zoom in on it.

    Hi @Ami2301

You have to go on OU website, click onto link "supporting students with disabilities, you then will find an e-mail link.

They do not publish an e-mail address!!

Let us know how you fair.
