Hi janejr..my experience was like yourself some of my fingers are out of shape also have had operations that have left my hands fully scared I never took any x-rays to my tribunal but many letters from my hand surgeon which was enough..obviously x-rays would be helpful but not essential just getting letters from each of your specialists would be enough..not sure if you can insist on x-rays maybe someone else might know..

X-rays cost and it's not guaranteed that that your GP will refer you because you need evidence. You may have to find other ways of getting the evidence you need to prove you can't self propel the wheelchair.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.

My fingers are bent and knobbly hand knuckles huge and spaced both elbows have swelling can't bend wrists fully. Seeing doc tuesday to request letter will also ask her to state whether she thinks I could repeatably propel myself in wheelchair without pain and discomfort also would sitting in wheel chair would cause me pain and discomfort in my hips and pelvis.. I have been docs many times with pain in my hip and groin due to dodgy disks and siatica. Citizens advice bloke ace would recommend

Oh Dotty, i'm so sorry to hear this!!!

Your first step is to request the Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) and you have 28 days from the date of the decision to request this. You need to look at the Support Group descriptors to see which one, if any apply to you and write your MR letter based on the reasons why you think you should be placed into that group. Support Group descriptors here.

You'll need to send evidence to support your claim if you didn't previously when you sent your ESA50 form back.

Now for your rent. You need to ring your local council first thing tomorrow morning and ask them to send you a nil income form. When you receive this you need to fill it out and return it, you'll then continue to be paid your housing benefit while you wait for the MR. Don't worry at this point because you won't be made homeless.

A few weeks ago you filled out a form for the severe disability premium (SDP) have you heard anything back from the claim yet? This is really important. If you haven't then ring ESA tomorrow morning and ask has a decision been made on the SDP claim yet.

If the decision's been made on the SDP then this will mean that you won't be able to claim UC because those that are claiming this can't claim UC at the moment.

This is an awful lot to deal with if you don't fully understand what you're doing, so i'm going to advise that you contact a local advice centre near you for expert advice. Welfare rights or a law centre will be a good place to start.

This is how you request the MR. If the decision remains the same and most do then you request the Tribunal.

Even though you've been found fit for work for your ESA, if you're entitled to the SDP then they will back date you everything they owe you from the time you qualified.

Glad you got your housing benefit sorted.

food/gas/electric is all part of the food bank and for this you need to be referred by either
    • Jobcentre Plus
    • A social worker
    • Citizens Advice
    • Children’s centres
    • Local authorities
    • Police or probation workers
    • GPs, health visitors or other medical professionals
If you have a pre-payment meter, some foodbanks can also help by giving you a small top-up if you’re out of credit.

Do you have family that can help you while you're waiting for the MR decision? I know you claim PIP so that's a good thing, even though it's paid every 4 weeks. Hopefully DWP won't be too long making a decision about the SDP because if you do qualify you'll have that backdated lump sum which will come in very handy right now.

3-4 weeks, possibly longer. There's really no timescales.

Waiting to go my docs now and feel on the verge of breaking down and all because my assessor omitted to put in my report about my hands wrists and elbows therefore able to manager a wheelchair manually. She wrote nothing on the pain my elbows are and that my hand goes numb with strong tingglin in them. I've got to ask doctor for a letter saying in her opinion I can't propel a manual wheelchair. Assesor seemed so nice I can't get my head round it. Why lie and leave things out. I just know I'm going to show myself up and cry down doctors I just feel so helpless osteoarthritis in all my joints pain unbearable then this. Feel so low

Back home now got to go for x-ray on hands even though they are visible in osteoarthritis and had hand therapy five years ago and have thumb injection regular. Having my feet x-rayed Wednesday because can't put left foot to floor in that much pain. Got in both feet. Feel sad for all disabled people , it's not enough having to live in horrible pain and feeling .Gov owned they then traumatize our heads with this terrible ordeal.

Unfortunately  no one on an internet forum can help you write your MR. If possible you should get trained help from an advice agency near you
Be all you can be, make  every day count. Namaste
