I'm 66 and live alone but I'm told I need help with getting dressed and household chores plus I need help with shopping. Now I want to be as independent as possible but mobility is a problem and I'm told as I'm going to claim the Attendance allowance there is no mobility component with this, please does anyone know how I can get help.

HI,Unfortunately, once you reach the age of 65 there's no disability benefit where you can claim mobility. The only disability benefit available to you now is Attendance allowance, which doesn't have the mobility part. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/sick-or-disabled-people-and-carers/attendance-allowance/before-you-claim-attendance-allowance/check-if-entitled-to-attendance-allowance/
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -
Unfortunately there is no mobility element when you claim AAYou might contact Age UK for a benefits check

By the time i reach pension age and i have already got my motorbility car will i be able to keep it if im still on pip to 2027 ?
-
If you still have the ability to drive and want to then as long as the scheme is still operational and you meet the qualifying criteria to claim the mobility part of PIP the answer is yes. But like all things, it may have changed how it is applied or funded by then.

Isn't PIP still available after 65? I have a Motability car paid by that.poppy123456 said:HI,Unfortunately, once you reach the age of 65 there's no disability benefit where you can claim mobility. PIP will continue at the same rate past 65 as long as you were in receipt of it before and continue to meet the criteria. You cannot make a new claim for PIP after 65

As he was on High rate DLA and contiues to be then he is entitled. It is only new claims after 65 when PIP is not allowed. As long as you have enhanced rate mobility before 65 this will continue as long as you meet the criteria

So are you saying that people who become disabled after 65 won't be able to get a Motability car?
-
If a person was not in receipt of a disability award before 65 then PIP is not an option. The only remaining benefit for becoming disabled after 65 is AA and that does not have a mobility component

If you became 65 on or after the 9th April 2013 you will have to claim PIP losing all of the DLA award you previously had.
