I do not know an answer to your question.  Have you spoken to your Doctor ?

    Would be a suggestion.

Some one from our community or a member of our team might advise.

    Please take care.

    Hi @starline1201
Do you have a diagnosis? Do you mean that you pick at the material on socks?

    Hi @starline1201
Sorry for the delay in coming back to you
Have you heard of 'stimming'? The term "stimming" is short for self-stimulatory behavior and usually refers to specific behaviors that include hand- flapping, rocking, spinning, or repetition of a word or act. Lots of people think this sort of behaviour is about self soothing and self calming. Do you think this could relate to you?

I also wondered if your socks are particularly annoying or irritating on your feet? Do you pick at them to make them softer or get rid of the seams? If so you can buy sock without seams that some people find much easier to wear.

Have you tried having a piece of fabric that you can use to pick at when you get the urge?

Also have you ever spoken to anyone else about this?
