Sad news for the disability community - Professor Mike Oliver has died
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMfvoh-j9qw&feature=youtu.be
Some of you will be aware of Mike and his work but if you are unaware of his influence - he was the first professor of disability studies in the world at the University of Greenwich (where I still work). He is also credited with coining the term 'social model'. He will continue to be a legend within the disability movement. I am collating testimonials from people who knew him and from people who have been influenced by his work. The collected testimonials will be hosted on my webpages sometime after Easter. If you have a contribution you wish me to add, you can (removed by moderator) post here for other people to see. Here are some of the testimonials collected so far:

If you are unaware of the significance of Mike's work, Google (other search engines are available) but make sure you get the right one - there was a very famous cardiologist and a current football referee with the same name. The link at the top is a 30 minute interview with Mike which is a useful summary of his work. Enjoy....

Morning Antonia and thank you for your message. I am unsure as to why you removed my email address as it is my work email address attached to this profile.
