Hi, just wondering if anyone has any good experiences of builders to undertake major adaptations to our house? Anyone in the Brighton area please? Plus - anyone you definitely wouldn't recommend? We've been through a complete disaster a few years ago and so now are being cautious... thank you everyone in advance!

Hi @Suse_Crosby welcome to the community! Sorry to hear that you previously had a bad experience! Have you enquired via Checkatrade at all?Disability Gamechanger - 2019

Thanks, I will use them if I have to but the Council are fussy and usually only want builders who’ve done adaptations before - which is why I thought I’d ask here!

Hi @Suse_Crosby
A warm welcome.
You should speak to your local building control officers and ask for their recommendations for a builder.
These people are the ones who carry out site visit to inspect the work being done on your property.
That is what we did and got a good builder, who did a brilliant job. -
great advice, thank you!

Speak to your local council. Ask about recommendations for a builder.

Hi Richard, thank you yes I have that already. We're in the system and that's why we're at the seeking quotes for the work stage. I was just keen to hear if anyone had any recommendations or indeed builders to avoid!

Hi April, thanks - have done that, they have suggested a couple but one was the company who almost destroyed our house before. They obviously have a short memory!

How is it going?

It’s a long old process! Really appreciate everyone’s suggestions
