I rang pip and was told as my pip ends 2020 i would receive a reassessment letter in june this year.
Its august and still nothing, then i hear that people on pip over a certain age will not need a reassessment. Im 59 never be able to work again does that include my age

    Hi,

PIP reviews are now taking place 6 months before the award is due to end and not 1 year before. PIP isn't about not being able to work.

The PIP changes are for those of state pension age, as you're under this age then you won't qualify for the new rules.

I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

That depends on backlog in your area. Have you had a face to face assessment? If so and you live in the UK ring DWP to request a copy of the assessment report to be sent to you. This will give you some idea what the decision is likely to be because they mostly go with the report.

If you haven't had the assessment yet then expect one because most people have them.

The letter you received is just a standard letter they send everyone. Decisions can still take 2-8 weeks, sometimes longer. I have no idea how long it could take because there's no timescales. They mostly go with the report though, it's very rare for them to go against it.

If you're not transferring from DLA then it's backdated to the date you rang to start your claim. If it's a review of an existing PIP award then it's from the date of the decision.

I know you're anxious with the waiting but there's really nothing you can do until a decision's been made, speaking to a case manager isn't going to speed up the process. There's huge backlogs in most areas at the moment. As advised, hopefully it won't be too long.

I`m playing the waiting game too. Sent my PIP claim forms off 3 weeks ago. Been on full DLA since 2000. Worrying time. I sent lots of evidence.

If pip are told by doctors that a patients condition will only worsen and never get any better I dont understand why they are expected to have a reassessment and this is the same with esa.
Most people Ive read about will never get any better in fact will get worse and doctors have confirmed this yet they are still expected to be reassessed even though its painful for them to travel. I think its so unfair.

An unfair system altogether ollie .....what else would you expect from this government ?
I await my date for face to face assessment.  The strain is taking its toll on me and the more I read about the assessors,  the more strain I feel .
I just wonder how these assessors can overrule a GP and a specialist . It a bit like me going into a courtroom and telling the judge that he has got it all wrong .
