Hey Everyone
I am a parent to a beautiful 8 year old ASD child, We currently live in a small studio flat and I was wondering if anyone had any advise on how to tackle moving, I know at the moment it's not the best option, However my tenancy finishes in August and I know the local council won't move me before then I have to contact homeless by mid-June if I have not been giving an offer. I managed to get overcrowding priority over a year ago. The pandemic has definitely challenged us at home but we are managing any little advice would be better than none.

Thank you

    Hello and welcome I hope the advice is helping you solver your housing issue.

    I know how it feels I have been there myself nearly becoming homeless waiting for suitable accommodation and how stressful it can be.

    My local council were very supportive and was assigned an amazing housing officer who did everything in her power to help me and my son out.

    Good luck

    Hey everyone thank you so much for the message and the advice. Me and my son are doing well. I have been trying to contact Shelter they are a little busy however I will keep trying and my local citizen advice have given me information.
    I went ahead and contacted the MP of housing and this resulted in my documents and statement being forwarded to my local council immediately. They have advised that I keep bidding and as soon as I get my two months eviction notice I will receive even more help.
    I am remaining very hopeful. When I receive another update I will keep you guys posted.

    @bernie87
    my advice get all letters from specialists involved to write I’m support of suitable accommodation...document everything ask to be contacted via email request decision on medical grounds..if they say no keep this for evidence...get a solicitor to help for discrimination...research your rights and what your child rights are in terms of suitable housing for disability ...I am currently in the process of this myself as I know my rights legal aid may cover the legal costs
