Celebrating birthdays during lockdown.

Me and my dad are celebrating our birthday during this time tomorrow, I was wondering if anyone had some tips on how celebrate during this lockdown? I don't really have many friends or people to talk to apart from maybe my family, its hard to feel positive during this time but I'd like to to be special.

Hi @Astr0cent I totally understand where you're coming from and you are most certainly not alone in that feeling. I have my Birthday in a Few weeks time and I'm uncertain about what may happen then and whether I may be able to see more than one person at any one time.

For the Friends you do have have you thought about maybe celebrating via Zoom? or another app where you can see more than one friend at a time?

    Thanks @Tommyb92

    Hello @Astr0cent

Happy birthday. How old will you be?

My partner turns 24 in thirteen days time. The original plan was to go to a escape room then order a meal at a restaurant afterwards. But all the escape rooms and eateries are currently closed. So he has had to alter his birthday plans a little due to the current lockdown. Instead of going out to have fun like we do normally, we have basically decided to make and eat some blue and white cupcakes on that day at home and we will also watch a movie then play a game of cards as a couple. I still have to make him a birthday cake tomorrow.

What about making a batch of colourful cupcakes or biscuits to eat? You could also watch a good film on the telly, open all of your gifts and cards then drink a cup of nice wine. Alternatively you could have a Netflix marathon or take some pictures of your birthday cake and send it to relatives and friends. You could even get your other family members to friends to wish you happy birthday on Skype, Facebook or Zoom.
Make a short mini list of activities and games for the party in addition. If you have a spacious back garden, that would be ideal as you can have a mini barbecue dinner with a bottle of good quality champagne or nice wine or go all out with a outdoor film night weather permitting. House party is even said to be good for birthday parties of all kinds.
Do you have anyone to celebrate with or not? You could also buy some more party supplies online from Amazon or at a shop like cutlery, cups, plates, hats and so on. Here are some more lockdown party ideas that are worth looking at. I hope that this is useful.

It might help to decorate the place too. For example you could purchase hard to miss party banners, mylar balloons, and special fairylights which you and your dad could hang up on the walls and ceilings etc. Additionally you could get hold of one or two loudspeakers if possible and play some appropriate dance music at the party. Dancing is always a fun activity.

Consider the menu for the party. What kind of food do you like to eat? Again write down some possible food options on a plain sheet of paper. Discuss with your father. Cheap bags of crisps that are easy to find at the supermarket are the perfect no fuss and versatile party food. Do not forget about things like cocktail sausages either and you could perhaps buy a few sausage rolls in addition. Or you could just make and serve up batches of cookies and cupcakes. Other popular favourite options include cold fruit and cheese platters. Plus if it is very hot, you could decide to merely eat cold party food like sandwiches, jelly, fruit salad, chilled sausage rolls, and lots of iced biscuits. Chicken and potato salad makes a perfect lunch party dish along with slices of pizza or

My better half (otherwise known as senior management) has a birthday in June, I managed to but a nice card for her on amazon and i'm racking my brains trying to remember which perfume she like that she hasn't already got ! But we are getting to an age now where we don't really celebrate birthdays (sad isn't it)?

Hello @Astr0cent and happy birthday. I am helping to celebrate my friend's 50th tonight and we are doing an online quiz through Zoom. I think there are plenty of quiz ideas around on the internet if you like a challenge. I have also done a logo challenge before too. Hope you find some good ideas for your celebrations.

It’s my birthday today! I live alone with my 18.5 year old cat. I will be talking to my Dad and brother later, which I’m looking forward too. They are far away. I am vegan and have ordered some cakes to arrive soon!! Looking forward to it. ??
