New community navigation menu [Announcement]
Following user feedback, we've been looking at ways to make menu navigation simpler on the Scope community website.
One of the messages we kept hearing, was how the menu items on the community platform made navigating the community a confusing and difficult user experience, with members often taken to areas on the Scope website with no clear way of getting back to the community.
As of the first week of May 2020, we will be revising the menu navigation to be more community-focused, linking directly to relevant and popular community pages and have also reduced the amount of clutter at the top of the page.
The updated navigation will include a simpler structure to include
the following headings:
- Discussion groups
- Coffee lounge
- Recent discussions
- My profile
The content of the site will remain the same and you will still be able to find all of your favourite discussions and discussion groups.
To give you a taste of what will change in the desktop version, in the preview image below the new desktop community navigation menu is displayed beneath an image of the old desktop community navigation menu and separated by yellow and blue lines:
The navigation menu now focuses only on community-relevant pages, removing most links to the Scope website in favour of community discussion groups and profile options.
To give you a taste of what will change in the mobile version, in the preview image below the new desktop community navigation menu is displayed inside a blue border to the right of an image of the old desktop community navigation menu which is displayed inside a yellow border:
As you can see, the header bar has been revised, replacing the 'Get online advice and support now' and 'Donate now' buttons in favour of a single '+ New discussion' button.
The mobile navigation menu now focuses only on community-relevant pages, including community discussion groups and profile options.
We plan to roll this change out across the community in the first week of May, but in the meantime we're really interested in hearing your feedback on this update and you're welcome to post it below or email us at community@scope.org.uk
