Anyone used a small scooter in a comcab taxi. I've managed it once..fits no problem..now been told it needs to be a folded scooter and secured. Used it in a cab a month ago. The free drive is locked, and my carer and myself can sit in the seats. I've booked cabs tomorrow and explained it is secure but worried i will get stranded on the return journey if one of the driver doesn't accept scooter

Hi @sue2007 and a very warm welcome to the community! I'm sorry your message got missed.
How did your trip go? I hope you were able to make the journey.Scope -
Hi Chloe
Thank you for asking. I was my first time out so very nervous. We decided to take my wheelchair and fortunately the Wetland centre had a scooter available for me. Bigger than my scooter, so more exhausting to use. But even if the cab driver accepted the scooter going there I couldn't risk being left miles away with no way back if other cab drivers refused to take my scooter
So remain confused regarding the status of using small scooters. TFL do mention black cabs can take small scooters but Comcab stated only fold up scooters that can be secured
its tight but the scooter can get in a black cab, and drive switch on locked so it is secure

Hi @sue2007
I'm glad you managed to make it out. I've tried to have a look online, and I agree that the guidance doesn't seem very clear at all. The only thing I did find that might be of help was on this TfL document, which states that if you ring this number: 020 79 08 02 71 and choose option 3, you can find out whether you can take your scooter onto black cabs. It might be worth a go! -
that;s really useful- thank you Tori

No problem at all @sue2007! Let us know how you get on I'm sure that the information would be helpful for others too

Yes @sue2007 it's far too hot! Take care of yourself- lots of water, shade, and rest if you can

Hi @sue2007, it certainly sounds confusing and a bit like a mission to get out and about! I'm glad to did manage to figure something out though.
