Oh wow so many replies! Thank you so much for welcoming me!I’m okay today thank you, been struggling with self-esteem related to my disability recently which was why I thought I’d join the community when I saw the ad on fb.
I’m a university student, and I only found out I have dyspraxia in February, so it’s taken a bit of getting used to -

I'm sorry you've been struggling with your self-esteem. It must be hard having a diagnosis dropped on you during university. Do you feel as though having the diagnosis will help you to access the help and support you need to succeed?
We've got a few university students on here, so hopefully you'll bump into them as you spend more time on the community.
In the meantime, you could have a read of this post about Pippa Stacey's book on university and chronic illness, which you might be able to relate to in some way? -

I've been a disabled university student too so can empathise with how you are feeling. It's a bit overwhelming isn't it?
Are you getting support from your university's disability service? They were a good help for me. Also you might want to think about applying for Disabled Students Allowance to help with any additional costs you face. Scope's Your University and Higher Education webpage has lots of other information you might find useful.

It is kind of overwhelming, even though it all makes a lot of sense. I do have support from the university, and I have DSA in place now, which helps. It’s just difficult to deal with it all whilst also managing studying and university life and so on

@woolyblankets Brilliant news about the DSA, that makes life easier.
One mantra that I lived by was "take it one day at a time". I set myself a couple of tasks each day, be it reading or essay planning and made sure to take breaks and give myself little treats

That’s a really good mantra! I try to remember to schedule in breaks and stuff, and my friends are good at making sure I don’t spend all my time working. It’s all too easy to think you have to work so much more when stuff takes you longer, but really you have to work “smarter”, which is what the DSA study skills tutor is helping me with.

I finally took the plunge today to get some help for my mental health, so I’m feeling much more positive now as I’ve been given some good options for help ? -
