Hi - I am a grandfather of a Abbey who has Diplegia and have seen many articles on the web about SDR Surgery in the States - has anyone any info on similar ops in the UK and what the side efects if any are?
She will be 3 in Feb 2010, walks with the aid of a frame very well and even aided one handed or with support at the hips.
I would be interested to learn anything from members

Hi Tom,
We've had our boy Henry evaluated for SDR both here and in the USA so I know the pros and cons from both sides. The procedures are quite different and therefore so are the results. It has made an amazing difference to Henry and although it is tough at the time, I would do it again in a heartbeat.
There are lots of details and considerations to think about and therefore I would be happy to talk to you away from the forum if you wish. I cannot give personal details here (rules of the forum), but we have a website you can find on most search engines when looking for the Henry Ford Trust. The webmaster email address will get to me.
Anyway, I hope you find what you are looking for. SDR is a very powerful technique that can transform lives if used correctly.
Best Regards,
Henry's Dad. -
