hi can my twin children buy a house for their future?  They both havelong term disabilities - CP, ASD and hydrocephalus.  I am worried they will be homeless in later years. the house we are renting is for sale

    How old are your twins?

    When you ask if they can buy a house, do you mean buy one outright or get a mortgage?

    In terms of being homeless, there is help available under current homelessness legislation. Much depends on how far in the future you're looking.
    If the house you're renting now is being sold, you may be able to get housing assistance from your local authority now.

    Has your current landlord served you with an appropriate notice to end the tenancy?

    they are 25.  no we arent homeless just i know in future days when i am not able to help them I am trying to secure them at least somewhere to lie in the future so they dont need to worry.  There is noone else to take over the care from me so trying to sort things as i can for the future. i am 52 and not getting younger

    Getting a mortgage these days has become a lot harder. If your Sons incomes consist solely of benefits, it's very unlikely that they will be able to get a mortgage from a main stream lender. Lending has tightened up considerably over the past few years.

    There is an organisation called MySafeHome who offer a specialist product. They have quite a lot of information on their website so do go and check them out and see if their product would be suitable for your sons. http://www.mysafehome.info/ 

    In all honestly, I don't think you have to be too concerned about their future home, it sounds as though the local authority would have a duty to house them, although I understand your concern at wanting to secure their futures.
