My grandson has a diagnosis of ADHD from 18 months ago and this week has a further diagnosis of ASD.He does receive DLA but I'm not sure if The benefits dept should be informed of this new diagnosis and would be glad of advice.

    Hello erinshauna

DLA is paid in recognition of a persons care or mobility needs rather than a diagnosis. As such, if your grandson's needs are the same as when DLA was awarded then there is no need to inform DLA of his new diagnosis.

Please post again if his care or mobility needs have increased.  It would also be helpful to know in any further post:
    - your grandsons age
    - what components and rates of DLA your grandson receives
    - briefly how his needs have increased, and in particular if his needs are through the day and night or just the day

    Kind regards

    Maria
