Hi I'm new here but had disabilities diagnosed over past 12 years. What I'm not dealing with at present is I have complained for over a year about my tummy problems and been fobbed off only to finally get things looked into just b4 christmas that I have ovarian cancer and nxt week having major operation of full hysterectomy and extras and then hope it doesn't need chemotherapy. It's messing with my head and feel so let down with health professionals that till now have let me down. Could this have been sorted sooner and when things were a lot smaller? I have not a clue. I'm only 40 and in 6days will be going full on into menapaus and am so scared and angry with everything. I feel I'm loosing it.

Oh SLB,  you have so much on your plate.  I'm no expert,  it sounds like total **** you are going through.

But you are at a turning point now. People are listening and real, actual help and treatment is starting now and you have lots of hopes and plans.

You possibly won't know if things could have been different.  That's so hard.  But you were obviously strong and got them to hear you!

My Grandma had similar when she was 45. Had diagnosis,  had hysterectomy and early menopause.  It was a hard time in her life but she is now a very happy and healthy 81 year old.

The helpline for scope is really good,  I called,  with different stuff but the were lovely, knowledgeable and it's free.

Also,  do you live with someone or have someone supporting you through this time?

Hi @SLB1410 Welcome to the community, I am so sorry to hear your news.

Recently Fi wrote a blog post for us about living with Ovarian Cancer that you may want to read about? She had a bad experience with toilets, but is so positive and brilliant and her blog is fantastic!

Ovacome is a great charity founded and run by women with ovarian cancer themselves that offer support to anyone with a diagnosis of Ovarian cancer.

Join in on the community, we have so many lovely members with such vast experience, I hope you find the support and information that you need.

Hi @SLB1410 Sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. Sad to know you were misdiagnosed for a long time I know how you feel. I was diagnosed with a "rare" gynae cancer many years ago and prior to that I was misdiagnosed for 15 months. Had they picked mine up earlier I would not have had such extensive surgery which left me with many ongoing problem for life along with disabilities. Right now you need to try to take good care of yourself, I know not easy. I hope the surgery goes well for you, One thing I did do was to write down every question now matter how small or big and take 2 copies with you to see your oncologist then you can work through the questions together. You will have found out by now how difficult it is to remember question once you are sat face to face with your consultant and make sure your specialist nurse gives you her number so you can contact her if you need too. I am new tonight and was looking around and saw your message. I hope you have some family support or friends to help you through this difficult time.  I will be thinking about you
