Hi I have a son age 17 with mild cerebral palsy, he has learning difficulties and this really gets him down . I feel helpless at times as he is so negative and it's hard to get him to stay positive.

Hi @maryannmackie and welcome to the community.
I am sorry to hear your son is feeling so down, does he have any other support or attend any support groups?
I was just chatting to @katyhump who is a new member saying her 18 year old son has CP and is struggling too. I wonder if it would help you both if you could connect and chat about your experiences?
My comments to her were this:
Are there any networks near you to get support? You can search the Services Map by postcode to see what Scope offers near you.
This is a really friendly community and we have lots of parents of young adults with CP who I hope can offer you some support and information.
This is a really long thread by @Noah about things people have found useful for managing CP and might be worth you having a look through?
Also take a look at the Parents and Carers category. You arent alone in this, there is support out there and I hope we can help you find what you need.
I hope this helps.Scope
