Accessible swimming pools in Milton Keynes

Hi.  New here, recommended Scope by a friend of mine in London.

I consider myself lucky in that if I keep up the rigorous physio I'm undertaking I should eventually get some more mobility back.  I'm not prepared to give up when I have as chance no matter how slim it is.

Walking and getting up from chairs are my biggest problem, and that impacts everything I do.  Work, socialising, shopping etc.

Right now I'm trying to find a swimming pool in or around MK where I can walk into the pool as I simply can't do steps.

Any ideas?

Good mourning @paulv they always say swimming is the best exercise going as it is used in physio. It sounds to me you are doing really well considering you have a good way to go. Have you thought about having a chair from a mobility shop as they have some really good chairs available that will help sit and get back up. You are right when you keep up the physio it will help to get back a small amount at a time but with patients. MK is not my area but have you looked on the website surly they must have at least one. Ask at your library they will tell you also they should have on show a to z activities in your area of MK. They are flyers which gives times dates where to find us . Well done again for trying you will get there in your own time..

Hi @paulv welcome to the community, I had a look at leisure centres in Milton Keynes and found you are right, they all have some steps or ladder into the pool, though some do have a hoist if that helps?

This is an issue for other people too, I found this discussion by @dgt2333 about similar issues.

I found the Milton Keynes Centre for Integrated Living (MKCIL) can provide information and advice on a wide range of disability issues. You can contact them on 01908 231344 or see the MKCIL website and they may be able to offer more ideas.
