@LeeAnn29 hi and welcome to the community. I just want to say how brave you've been to post on here to tell us your story. Please don't feel you are alone. Most of us on here have either been turned down or got lower points than we should have at the beginning of this process. Have you sent the DWP medical evidence with the Reconsideration letter? You can also complain to your assessment company by writing to them about your assessment and the report, but if you don't feel able to stay around here and someone will be along to help you more than I can. X

@LeeAnn29 I feel your your pain this is by far one of the hardest things to go through, but your not alone the online community here have been through the same and a lot worse, Everyone here supports everyone else, we are all the same and we will win in the end. I am just about to go through it again for the third time in five years. You must never give up you will win, it will take time and must be strong but we will all help xx

@LeeAnn29 If the DWP haven't sent you back a decision about your reconsideration it's not too late to ask them to wait till you get some more evidence. If you're under the mental health service your surgery will have information on the computer about your medical conditions. All you or someone helping you has to do is ask the surgery to print off any relevant documents from your medical history. It would help a lot to do this and send it in for the Decision Maker to use. It is much stronger evidence than letters from family and friends. X

Sorry to hear you're having such a tough time.

You mention feeling suicidal - if you are having thoughts of suicide, it is important that you discuss them with someone who is qualified to help. Please call the Samaritans on 116 123 (free) or email them at jo@samaritans.org You might also benefit from reading MIND’s information on how you can help yourself.

We can try to help you here - you can also try our helpline - 0808 800 3333 (open 9-5, weekdays) who might be able to help you get some help.

    Take care.

@LeeAnn29 's partner, What a lovely person you are to be standing by LeeAnn and trying to help her through this. So sorry to hear she's in hospital. She will need help to get through the PIP process which has a lot to answer for doing this to vulnerable people. Most of us have suffered in some way. Has she been trying to do her own paperwork or is anyone helping her with this? Is her Mum her appointee for dealing with her benefit on her behalf or maybe you could become her appointee? If you decide to do this it can be arranged by phoning the PIP helpline at DWP. LeeAnn would have to agree to this when she's well enough. The number to ring is on her Decision letter. That's DWP not ATOS/CAPITA. They only do the assessments. You need to let DWP know what's happened and why and how urgent it is that Leeanne gets some help. Check how much medical evidence they have to support the Mandatory Reconsideration if they'll talk to you. If not you or her Mum can write to them on her behalf. Put her National insurance number and full name on any letters or evidence you send. You can also repost for more help in the ask a benefit advisor section of Scope. Post any questions you need answering to help you learn about the process. Hope she get's better soon. You could also let your MP know what has happened and see if they'll help.

OK well if you want to help I hope you can get together with her Mother and sort out who's going to do what. You don't have to be living with her to help her. Someone needs to ring the DWP to tell them she's in hospital. They will advise you or her Mum what you need to do if anything. I don't know if they'll agree to deal with you or her Mum while she's in hospital but you and her Mum can give them information that will give her more time to carry on with the claim for PIP. I still think the first thing is to arrange for someone else to help her by becoming her Appointee but only if she agrees. She said she had applied for a Reconsideration so will explain to you what has happened so far. After she went to her assessment with her Mum the assessor filled in a form called a PA4. That form is sent to the DWP for a Decision Maker to decide whether she's entitled to any PIP. They then send a brown envelope to her with the Decision which is when she got turned down. This letter also told her she had 1 month to ask for a review of that decision called a Mandatory Reconsideration. She says she told them what was wrong with the Decision and what she didn't agree with so she's waiting for the DWP to decide whether to change her points or keep it the same. There are websites with PIP points system to check which ones apply to her. She needs as much medical evidence as she can get at this stage but nothing can be done till she can do this herself or maybe she could write and sign a letter that the surgery would accept to get more evidence. Now she's in hospital there will be letters being sent by specialists to her surgery and the surgery admin dept. will be able to supply copies with her permission. Someone needs to use the present situation to make the DWP get her PIP sorted out properly and the sooner the better...
