educational psychologist assessment needs?

Hello,

My 7 years old son facing difficulties with fine motor skills, reading, low ability, handwritting, confidence, memory and some social inetraction issues. He was born 2 weeks premature. He started speaking when he was 3 years old. Can you please advise me do we need to consult with an educational psychologist for comprehensive assessment. The only thing im afraid he cant read or write properly. Or do i need to consult OT occupational therapist to develop his motor skills. I will really appreciate your advise.

Scope Independent Support here. If your son attends school, they will be able to inform you what steps they are taking to address his needs. If you and/or the school feel that he needs support above what the school can offer, you can apply to your Local Authority for a needs assessment for an Education, Health and Care Plan.

As part of the process, the Local Authority would ask for advice from an Educational Psychologist. You could also request an assessment from an Occupational Therapist and any other professionals you feel may be able to offer advice.
