Hi everyone
I'm very concerned, and need to share this.
I've just had a women knock on my door.
she handed my husband a card that read.
"Hi I am deaf, I'm selling my drawings, to buy Xmas presents for my children?.
When my husband signed my wife is also deaf.
He said she looked like a dear in headlights (she didn't reply).
I said did you just sign? Or did you speak aswel?
He said he did both.
Now if this is a scam? I think it's disgusting.
Anyone using any disability to make money, is totally out of order.
I just hope she doesn' take advantage, of the old people were I live.

Thank you so much for sharing this

I have heard a very similar thing being discussed on other forums. So I think it is a scam, sadly.

That's a shocking story, @bevt2017! Did they leave after that? Hopefully your husband signing and catching her off guard has been enough to deter them from trying anything of the sort again!

Thanks for sharing your story @bevt2017
If you can, reporting scams can help protect others in future. -
Literally just had someone at the door with almost the identical situation. I just signed ‘no thanks’ smiled and shut the door.
If it’s not some sort of a scam it’s a very weird coincidence. This was a guy in his 20’s. Thanks for making us aware of it x -

Hi everyone
Iv'e just found out it is a "scam".
And i would advise calling the police a.s.a.p, so they are caught in the act.
There are different story's going around "men and women".
They've lost there jobs ect.
I'm absolutely disgusted
They need to be "stopped"
Thank you -
Hello @bevt2017
thanks for that information. Makes wonder how easy is it to fake certain disabilities and make it believable that it is real! -
I get people knocking on the door and because I live in sheltered housing accommodation they always ask for my nan because I am only 47 and as you can see from my photo I don't look even my own age and when I tell them I am the occupier they seem to get rather worried and rush off with their Poundland products that they are trying to sell for extortionate prices and then when they see me following them they leave my Neighbours who also live in sheltered accommodation alone so all I can say is thank God that I am not stupid. and that being disabled, doesn't mean I'm stupid X
