Bedroom tax?

I have just had someone call on us promoting scope. I was told that he thought that the bedroom tax had been ruled unlawful in the courts. My wife is disabled now has a bedroom for herself because of the equipment plus she has a hospital bed, which means there's no room for me. I sleep in a separate room and also her full time carer. We live in a disabled adapted 3 bedroom house and have to pay the council £60 a fortnight extra. This is so wrong. We have no problem in paying for one but why have we got to pay for two.

Hi @Paul67barton, and welcome!
There are some cases where families may be exempt from bedroom tax due to disability. Disability Rights UK have some further information on the tax which you may find useful, if you haven't seen it already. -
If your wife is severely disabled I would say you have a good case for asking for the under-occupancy to be reduced to 1 bedroom.
It's certainly worth writing to the Council, detailing the extent of her disability and what equipment she requires etc and asking them to reduce the charge to 1 bedroom and see what they come back with.
Let us know how you get on!
Kind regards,
Mary
