Adapted vehicles to learn to drive in

I've recently applied to DVLA for my provisional driving license. While I am still faffing about with their medical stuff my next concern is getting a vehicle I can drive. I was just wondering how it works with motability when you need a number of different adaptations. The price list seemed to add up to several thousand pounds and I am not sure I can afford that at the moment.
Does anyone know how this works in reality as the motability website is certainly not very clear on the issue.

Hi @Geo08,
On Scope's page on driving and motability, there are some organisations listed who may be best placed to help you out with this...Disabled motoring - further information
- Disabled Motoring UK is a campaigning charity for disabled drivers, passengers and Blue Badge holders.
- BlueBadgeParking is a free, crowd-sourced, not-for-profit map of disabled parking around the world.
- People's Parking helps disabled people find an accessible car park.
Hopefully some of our community members will be able to offer some guidance too, but I'd definitely recommend looking into Disabled Motoring UK in the meantime- they may be more helpful in finding what you need than Motability. Do let us know how you get on! -
Hi @Geo08
In addition to the Motability Scheme to supply the car there is the possibility of a charitable grant towards the cost of the adaptations for those that would otherwise be excluded from the scheme due to lack of funds for the adaptations, see:

Hope this helps
