Hello
Just hoping for some advice. I had a discectomy march last year and severe pain ever since. Maxed out on pain relief unless i go on to morphine. Local hospital failed to diagnose caudus equina and now saying just scaring near to the nerve. Offered me an appointment in six months. Referred for second opinion on October and still waiting for an appointment. Saw gp today and his advice was the nhs is falling apart. Any ideas?

Hi @Laura9093
It’s great to meet you this evening & Welcome along to the crew.
I have had “Chronic Pain” since 2005 following surgery myself.
I’m also “rattling with many many meds” myself !!!!!!!
Are you being seen in a “Pain Clinic”
We have got lots of info on our site which may be off help for you.
There is also many members who have also got “PAIN”
Please please let me know if I can help/support you in anyway??????

Its the same story with orthopaedics.

Hi Laura,
I had a fit due to heart problems. I was sent home by the hospital in agony and was told it was muscle pain and it would ease. I spent 6 months on the settee in agony. I went back to a+e 3 times but was fobbed off every time. I was even asked was I addicted to drugs. After my gp complained and demanded a scan , they told me I had broken my back in 4 places just below my shoulders. I was referred to pain clinic at the Walton centre in Liverpool and had no problems with them and was given good care.
You can contact nhs England. They deal with complaints about gp,s or hospitals.
Good luck.

Yeah, I think one of the **** pest things you mentioned was what the gp said!! Not exactly going to give you hope and motivation

Have just seen this again and it cut the h last bit of my reply off.
Sorry.
You need a gp who hasn't given up! You need a gp who is your advocate and supportter and will chase up all this **** for you.
Can you see another gp? I didn't appreciate this till fairly recently that our GPS are also there to sort out all our medical stuff.
Get an appointment as soon as possible with someone else and tell them exactly what you want to happen. You need the original issue sorted and referral to a pin clinic or at least some good quality support for pain management.
Even if you have to wait for appointments there is still lots ypur gp should be doing.
