my partner moved up from England last year and had to apply to go onto universal credit. Yesterday he found out (no letter etc) by logging onto his payments that they were deduction £47.67 a month from his benefits because when they put him on to universal credit they made an error and continued to pay him Esa as well. He suffers from epilepsy and is finding this whole thing stressful and is causing him to take seizures. i am appalled that a government agency like that can be so incompetent as to make an error like this. have any of you also experienced this.

Hi,When transferring from ESA to UC payments of ESA can continue for a couple of weeks, it's normal. If they do continue then the ESA you received will be deducted from your UC payments. This is because you can't be paid the benefit twice. Unfortunately, all overpayments are recoverable under UC even if it's their error.See link and scroll to 1.25.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
