I always thought that me ESA was 'Contribution Based' but the most recent letter tells me that my ESA is 'Income Related', if this is the case then how will my ESA be affected if I take a reduced pension (approx £4000 pa) at aged 55? (In 18 months time). Thank you for the input as this question has probably been asked many times (not by me lol).

    Hi,

Any pension you receive will affect your Income Related ESA £1 for £1.

You should check with DWP that it's not part Contributions based. If it is then only the Income related top up with be affected. You'll get to keep all the Contributions based if your pension is less than £85 per week.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
