Hi @needham1973! Welcome to the community and I'm glad you managed to get onto the forum
You are able to backdate carers allowance for up to three months if you are successful with the claim. You also can see what benefits you may be entitled to by filling out this form. I hope this helps and please do let me know if there is anything else I can do to helpScope -
Hi,What other benefits does your friend receive and do they live alone? If you claim Carers allowance for looking after them then this could affect their benefits but it will totally depend on what they claim. Also, what other benefits, if any do you receive?I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

That still doesn't tell me why her ESA has been canceled. I won't be able to help without all the information. I'd advise her to ring DWP to ask why her ESA has been canceled. One thing that comes to my mind... did she fail to attend a work capability assessment?I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. No she not been sent for capability assessment she was in support group

But why was her ESA cancelled? There has to be a reason for this. I can't help you unless i know why. She needs to ring DWP to ask why this has happened.

None at this moment in time person I’ve been caring for won pip from last April, not sure if I get Carer’s from that date
-
Have you been working and earning more than £123 per week after deductions during that time? or been a student? If you have then you won't be able to claim carers allowance.
