I was called by the DWP to explain the back pay situation, 4 months ago, since then I have heard nothing. I was given ESA back in 2011 and not given full support, however I didnt/ don't know much about benefits, I'd always worked. Is there a number I can call in which I can ask if I'm entitled to back pay? I called one number and was given a different number to call, is there a special number? Thank you.

Hi,Waiting times for decisions regarding this are taking longer than 20 weeks for some people. Backlogs are huge because there was so many people to contact.Whether or not you'll qualify for any backdated month will totally depend on your circumstances during the date specified. Living with partner that works or claims other means tested benefits, savings/capital and income from pensions will be what you'll be assessed on for the income related top up.I'm afraid i don't know of any special number to ring but once a decision's been made you'll be sent a decision letter with all details.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
