Carer's Allowance question

Hi there, hope everyones ok, I have a question about carers allowance and if it will affect my brothers benefits if I claim it. Up until now I have been working part time but earning over the threshold to claim CA; I am now redundant and wish to claim but only if it does not affect my brothers money.
He is single and lives alone, he is in receipt of ESA and PIP (enhanced rate for both care and mobility). I have been told that in the past because he was in receipt of severe disability premium, he would lose out if I claimed CA but under ESA there is no SDP, therefore they don't take it off him; is this correct.
