I am 19 and I have cerebral palsy. Throughout lockdown I have really struggled with the lack of socialising and more importantly with my mental health! Recently, my stiffness has got really bad and I am not sleeping very well due to it. Can anyone recommend anything to help ease it as I'm getting really frustrated with it!!

Hello @HollyG and welcome to the community, glad you've joined us
Many of our members have CP and I'm sure they will be more than happy to offer their suggestions. We also have a dedicated Cerebral Palsy category, which I have moved your discussion to, and a specialist information officer for CP who is the wonderful @Richard_Scope.
Again I wish you a very warm welcome, if you ever need any help navigating the community feel free to give us a shout

Welcome to the community @HollyG As Ross said, we have lots of members with CP so I'm sure they'll be able to give you some advice and support.
Have you ever heard of CP Teens UK? It might be worth getting in touch with them as well if you haven't already, I've heard really great things. -
Hi and welcome from me too, I hope you get the info you are looking for

Hi @HollyG
Great to meet you but not so great to hear that you have increased stiffness and are feeling isolated.
It's really important that you keep mobile as much as you can to manage the stiffness, are you able to keep up with your stretches at all?
Another good way to manage the stiffness is out baths with magnesium bath salts. If you only have a shower you can now get magnesium shower gels.
Is your leg stiffness usually manageable?

Hi @HollyG,
Welcome to the community and thank you for joining us. How are you? I am sorry to hear of the struggles you are currently facing, it must be difficult. I completely agree with @Richard_Scope, keeping as mobile as possible is really important, please may I ask do you have a physiotherapy programme that you are able to carry out?
It's really difficult not being able to socialise in the way that we usually would, here on the community there are lots of conversations taking place, so please do feel free to join in with any conversations which may be of interest to you. Please may I ask, what interests do you have? Please do ask any questions you may have, this is a brilliantly supportive community and there are many lovely people. We are all here to support one another Thank you -
Hi both
Thanks for the advice
I'll have a look at the magnesium soap ( I love a good bath!)
I go to a specialist college and I used to have hydrotherapy and ti chi every week but because of the current situation I'm not getting any physio and I don't do anything at home.
I'm a typical 19 year old who likes TV, music and my friends are really important to me -

Hi @HollyG,
I'm sorry to hear that due to the current situation you are unable to access the physio that you would usually do, that must be both difficult and frustrating. Please may I ask, do you know when these activities may be able to be restarted at college? I hope that you are able to try the magnesium soap and that it makes a positive difference for you Awesome, please may I ask what music do you like to listen too? What is your favourite tv programme? Thank you -
